PTO Snack Bakes: Mr. Eavey
To date there is a conservative number of at least several hundred dollars that has been lost in inventory or cash. In one week the PTO lost over 121.00 It was proposed that the snack shop be closed. Vote: No opposition to closing it. Unanimous vote to close it. As of this meeting the PTO will no longer buy new inventory for the PTO snack bar. We, as a board, are going to look into getting some sort of vending machine to at least provide something for the teachers, this may not be ran through the PTO though. The PTO asked that others let us know if they know of vending companies.
Events:
September Movie Night
We are looking into a movie night in mid to late September. They have not been very profitable so we are going to change how they have been run. A major problem last year was having parents just drop off students. We are going to try to have new events, face painting, pizza, etc. We want to make this a family movie night and have the whole family there. Want to buy popcorn ahead of time that is already made. The date will be posted as soon as we know, look for it on the website. Possible movie to show: How to Eat Fried Worms (did well last year since many kids had never seen it), Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Hannah Montana the movie that just came out.
November Carnival is not going to happen this year in November, but we will have a carnival sometime in the year.
We may try to do a Middle School Formal and a Guitar Hero Night.
We are going to look into maybe selling food at home sport nights, football, softball, etc.
Student Representatives:
Rachel Graminski and Serina Murphy are both student council reps that were present and this meeting. They noted that student council is doing a can food drive and are collecting recyclable from each class on a weekly basis.
National Junior Honors Society is doing the babysitting during the meeting, thank you so much guys!
Bylaws:
This board has a new set of bylaws that this board has put together this year. We have created this to mirror PTO standards, so they are no longer “standing rules”. They are posted on the website.

- Treasurer: Karina Roiz
- Voted for Karina to be treasurer.
- Co-Fundraising Coordinators: Nina Shoals
- Nina Shoals and Texie Gomm were voted to be co-fundraising coordinator

- Anyone want to be secretary??? No one volunteered at meeting
Principals Report: Clarisa Rodriguez and Kathy Shiba
Kathy brought up that we just took our DIBELS test for kindergarten through third. This is a state mandated test. Galileo is coming up as well so be prepared for your student to come home talking about these two. They both are designed as a way so teacher can design a curriculum to help our students perform at their best and students can master each standard.
The school is putting a community service project to not only help the community and to create a community of learners here at Anza. Classes are paired up so there are older children with younger children to all work together. If you have any ideas please bring it to your teacher’s attention or someone at school.
Other:
- We are trying to have Sertinos coffee here for next months meeting.
- If you wanted to volunteer, please sign up for only what you want to do or what you want more information on. We will not bother you for other stuff if you don’t want.
- Nothing certain for middle school dances but we are looking into it. However, student council has two dances and yearbook has one at the end of the year during the school day.
- Want to bring to everyone’s attention that Adopt a Classroom is a great program that every teacher should be made aware of. You can donate to any class. You can even donate to a teacher that is not signed up yet. PTO would like to put Anza Trail as a school. Teachers present agreed.
- Mrs. Eves was elected teacher of the month for the month of September. The TOM winner will a gift from the wish list and get lunch from a place of their choice with Amanda. A chance for that teacher to give suggestions or ask questions.
- We would really like to have a volunteer parent for each grade that would act a coordinator for each grade to help out with grade level functions.
- Please have anything that you want added to the agenda to Mr. Eavey at least a week prior to the PTO meeting. This also goes for anything that needs volunteers please report that to Teo.
Meeting ended at 6:28
